A worsted cloth with a high content of wool makes the game easier to play and more enjoyable:
- It provides players with a greater precision and control for more accurate shots. This is due to the unique molecular structure of the wool. With scales on its surface only visible at a microscopic level, they offer some grip to the billiard ball, like tyres for a car. It enables players to control the speed and trajectory of their ball, which 100% synthetic cloths in Carom or cloths with a large content of synthetic fibers in Pool for instance won’t provide. Then, to make a worsted cloth with a high content of wool go faster, a percentage of nylon is added to the cloth to decrease the level of grip. The balance between wool and nylon is crucial to avoid increasing speed at the expense of accuracy.
- It leaves less white marks/burn spots on the cloth. When you hit a billiard ball, it accelerates from 0 to 40 kph (25 mph) in just a millisecond beating any Formula One or Indy car. This results in intense friction heat between the ball and the cloths leaving white marks. Thanks to the thermal insulation properties of the wool, Simonis cloth leave less white marks or burn spots on the cloth.
- It is less noisy when balls roll on the table because of the wool acoustic insulation properties.
Last but not least, worsted cloths with a high content of wool are better for the environment compared to 100% synthetic cloth or cloths with a large content of synthetic fibers. Wool is a natural and renewable fiber, whereas synthetic fibers are derived from petrochemical and not biodegradable.

Every roll of original IWAN SIMONIS cloth has 3 different markings which guarantee the authenticity of the product:
Next to the selvedge/side of the cloth there is alternatively every approx. 60 cm :
1. the IWAN SIMONIS well known signature logo
2. the IWAN SIMONIS name in block letters with the product name.
3. There is also printed in the middle of the width of every meter of cloth a mark showing IWAN SIMONIS name in block letters followed by the serial number of the roll (ID number) : this indelibly U.V. marking is only visible in black light (U.V.light).
